Let it be said: I work with talented & creative people. Our new style guide was delivered today. It would have been fine had it been simply delivered, but that just wasn’t enough.
It started with this carefully crafted email:
I hate calling people. Hate. Especially to possibly be shot down. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to react if I get rejected. Sometimes, I just start crying, and I didn’t know until the tears started that the conversation was a crying-risk.
I can not emphasize this enough: Calling is good.
Good for you, good for the job hunt, pretty much just good all around. I know it’s hard, but try to remember: if things don’t work out, it could easily be a blessing in disguise.
I recently started a new job, and I love it here. In the process of finding a job, I thought I had found where I belonged. I was wrong. At the time, I took it as a major disappointment that things didn’t work out. Now, I couldn’t be happier. I also found out a few things after the fact that made me extra glad about the way things worked out.
You’ve got people in your corner. Just remember that, and you oughta be alright.
